A 3-piece bedding set in Indigo Blue, made from 100% GOTS Certified Organic Cotton jersey - the same knit construction used in organic T-shirts and loungewear. Jersey fabric behaves differently from woven sateen or percale: it has a natural stretch, a matte finish, a softer drape, and an immediate softness against skin that woven fabrics typically require multiple washes to develop. The indigo dye uses GOTS-approved colorants across the full production chain. Closure is concealed coconut shell buttons - no plastic, no metal.

Jersey is a knit construction - the same type of fabric used in T-shirts and organic cotton loungewear. It has a natural stretch, a matte finish, and softness from the first use. Sateen is a woven construction with a smoother, slightly sheeny surface and a crisper feel that softens gradually with washing. Jersey bedding tends to feel warmer and more enveloping; sateen is cooler and more structured. Jersey is well suited to people who sleep cold or prefer a wrapped, relaxed feel over crisp hotel-style sheets.
Jersey's knit structure traps slightly more air than woven fabrics, giving it more insulating properties. This makes it better suited to autumn and winter than to hot summer nights. If you sleep warm or live in a warmer climate, the Cottsbury Classic Sateen sets in the same colourway range are a lighter-weight alternative.
GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) requires all dyes and processing chemicals to meet strict toxicological criteria. For Indigo Blue specifically, it prohibits synthetic azo dyes that can release carcinogenic aromatic amines, as well as heavy metal-based pigments - both of which are frequently used in conventional indigo dyeing. GOTS-compliant indigo dyeing uses approved reactive or vat dyes with low environmental and skin impact.
Jersey organic cotton has a naturally soft, low-friction surface that is generally well tolerated by sensitive skin. GOTS certification ensures no harmful chemical residues from processing. However, this is a dyed colourway - for people with documented reactions to textile dyes specifically, the undyed Natural Classic or White Classic sateen sets are the more cautious option.
Cottsbury fitted sheets and duvet covers are sized to standard UK dimensions. The fitted sheet has a 30 cm depth, which fits most standard mattresses. If your mattress is deeper than 30 cm (common with pillow-top and memory foam mattresses), measure before ordering. The King duvet cover (230 × 220 cm) fits a standard UK king duvet without overhang.
