Navy marrow-style embroidery runs along the edge of the duvet cover on a 300 thread count, 100% GOTS Certified Organic Cotton sateen base. Marrow embroidery is a traditional hand-finishing technique - tight, close-set stitches worked along the fabric border to create a textural, dimensional edge detail. The navy thread produces the sharpest contrast of the three marrow embroidery colourways in the Cottsbury range: the deep blue reads clearly against the white ground, giving the border a bold, defined finish with more visual presence than the grey or taupe options. Closure is concealed coconut shell buttons - no plastic, no metal.

Marrow embroidery is a traditional border finishing technique in which close-set decorative stitches are worked along the edge of the fabric. On this set, the navy marrow embroidery runs along the edge of the duvet cover, creating a raised, textural border. Unlike printed or woven banding, the embroidery sits on top of the fabric surface and has a distinct physical texture - visible and tangible in a way that a flat dyed stripe is not. The navy thread against the white sateen ground produces the most defined and graphic result of the three marrow embroidery colourways in this range.
All three marrow embroidery sets use the same 300 thread count sateen base and construction. The difference is thread colour and resulting contrast. Navy produces the highest contrast of the three - the deep blue reads sharply against the white ground, giving the border the most visual presence. Grey is cooler and mid-contrast. Taupe is the warmest and most tonal, reading as a quiet accent. If you want the embroidery border to be a defined design feature rather than a subtle finish, navy is the strongest choice.
Banded bedding (single band, twin band) achieves its contrast detail through the weave - a section of coloured yarn woven into the fabric during production. Marrow embroidery is applied after weaving, with thread stitched across the fabric edge. Banding sits flush with the fabric surface; embroidery has visible raised stitches with a dimensional texture. Embroidery is the more decorative and traditional of the two approaches. Within the navy range specifically, this marrow embroidery set delivers a more refined look than the Navy Single Band or Navy Twin Band, which are bolder and more graphic across the face of the duvet.

It covers the full supply chain including fibre sourcing, spinning, weaving, and for embroidered products, the embroidery thread itself. All materials must meet strict chemical and labour standards at every production stage. For the navy thread, GOTS prohibits the dye classes most commonly associated with conventional navy production - azo dyes that can release carcinogenic aromatic amines, and heavy metal-based pigments.
