A 3-piece bedding set in White with Serene Blue block panels on a 300 thread count, 100% GOTS Certified Organic Cotton sateen base. Block panel is a more architectural design approach than banding: large areas of Serene Blue are integrated into the duvet cover construction rather than applied as narrow accent stripes, producing a two-tone layout with more visual weight than a single or twin band. Serene Blue is the softest and most restrained blue in the Cottsbury colour range - a low-saturation, dusty tone with a slight grey undertone - which means the block panel here reads as considered and calm rather than bold or graphic. The combination of a generous colour field in a quiet, muted blue makes this the most understated of the two block panel designs in the range. Closure is concealed coconut shell buttons - no plastic, no metal.

Banded bedding uses narrow stripes of a contrast colour - typically running across the duvet cover near the edges or through the centre. Block panel uses larger, more architectural sections of colour integrated into the fabric layout of the duvet cover itself. The result is a more substantial two-tone look with greater visual presence than bands. On this set, the Serene Blue panels sit against the white ground in a way that reads as deliberate and structural rather than decorative.
Both use the same 300 thread count GOTS Certified organic cotton sateen construction and identical block panel layout. The difference is entirely the colour of the panels. Navy is deep, saturated, and high-contrast against the white ground - a bold, graphic result. Serene Blue is low-saturation and muted - closer to a dusty sky or washed denim - which produces a softer, more restrained two-tone effect. The Serene Blue version suits rooms where you want the block panel structure to read as quiet and tonal; the Navy version suits rooms where you want it to read as a statement.
Serene Blue is a soft, low-saturation blue with a slight grey or lavender undertone that keeps it from reading as a primary or baby blue. It sits closer to a dusty sky or washed chambray than a bright or deep blue. Against a white ground in a block panel layout, it reads as a calm, considered accent - present without dominating. In natural daylight the blue character becomes more visible; in lower light it reads closer to a blue-grey.
GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) is the leading international certification for organic textiles. It requires the cotton to be grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers and verifies that every processing stage - including dyeing - meets strict chemical and labour standards. For the Serene Blue dye, GOTS prohibits azo dyes capable of releasing carcinogenic aromatic amines and heavy metal-based pigments, which are common in conventional blue dyeing. Low-saturation shades like Serene Blue use less dye concentration than deep blues, but the GOTS restrictions apply equally throughout the range.
Yes. The 300 thread count sateen weave produces a smooth, low-friction surface, and GOTS certification ensures no harmful chemical residues from processing or dyeing. For people with documented sensitivities specifically to textile dyes, the undyed White Classic or Natural Classic sets are the more cautious option.
