Grey marrow-style embroidery runs along the edge of the duvet cover on a 300 thread count, 100% GOTS Certified Organic Cotton sateen base. Marrow embroidery is a traditional hand-finishing technique - tight, close-set stitches worked along the fabric border to create a decorative edging with visible texture. It's a meaningfully different detail from printed bands or dyed stripes: the grey colour sits in the stitching itself rather than in the woven fabric, giving the edge a dimensional, tactile quality that changes slightly in appearance depending on light and angle. Closure is concealed coconut shell buttons - no plastic, no metal.

Marrow embroidery is a traditional border finishing technique in which close-set decorative stitches are worked along the edge of the fabric. The name refers to the dense, interlocked stitch pattern. On this set, the grey marrow embroidery runs along the edge of the duvet cover, creating a raised, textural border that reads as a refined detail rather than a flat stripe. Unlike printed or woven banding, the embroidery sits on top of the fabric surface and has a distinct physical texture visible and tangible to the touch.
Banded bedding (single band, twin band) achieves its contrast detail through the weave - a section of coloured yarn woven into the fabric during production. Marrow embroidery is applied after weaving, with the grey colour created by thread stitched across the fabric edge. Banding is smooth and flush with the fabric surface; embroidery has visible stitch texture and a slightly raised profile. Embroidery is the more decorative and traditional of the two approaches.

The marrow embroidery sits along the edge of the duvet cover rather than across the main sleeping surface, so it does not affect the skin-contact area of the bedding during normal use.
Cottsbury duvet covers are sized to standard UK dimensions. A Single cover (135 × 200 cm) fits a standard 10.5 tog single duvet. The King (230 × 220 cm) fits a standard UK king duvet without overhang. If you have a deep-fill or oversized duvet, size up.
