A solid Serene Blue bedding set on a 300 thread count, 100% GOTS Certified Organic Cotton sateen base. Serene Blue is the softest and most restrained blue in the Cottsbury Classic range - a low-saturation, slightly muted tone that reads closer to a washed denim or dusty sky blue than a bright or deep blue. It has enough colour presence to register clearly as blue without dominating a bedroom scheme, making it the most versatile of the three Classic blue colourways for use with a range of interior palettes. On a sateen weave it carries a gentle sheen that keeps it from feeling flat. Closure is concealed coconut shell buttons - no plastic, no metal.

Serene Blue is a soft, low-saturation blue - the kind that might be described as dusty blue, washed denim, or muted sky blue depending on context. It has a slight grey or lavender undertone that prevents it from reading as a primary or baby blue. At its quietest in low light, it reads almost as a blue-grey; in strong daylight, the blue character becomes more apparent. On sateen, the gentle sheen adds a slight shimmer that lifts it from the flatness a similar tone might have in a matte weave.
The three blue colourways in the Classic range span a wide tonal spectrum. Navy is the deepest and most traditional - saturated, bold, and unmistakably dark blue. Mid Blue sits in the middle with a clear, accessible mid-tone. Serene Blue is the softest of the three - lower saturation, more muted, and closest to the blue-neutral boundary. It reads as the most calm and understated, making it the most flexible for layering and for rooms where colour is introduced gradually. If Navy is a statement and Mid Blue is a confident choice, Serene Blue is the quiet one.
GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) is the leading international certification for organic textiles. It requires the cotton to be grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers and verifies that every processing stage - including dyeing - meets strict chemical and labour standards. GOTS prohibits azo dyes capable of releasing carcinogenic aromatic amines and heavy metal-based pigments. For soft, low-saturation shades like Serene Blue, lower dye concentrations are used than for deeper colourways, but the GOTS restrictions and chemical criteria apply equally throughout the range.
Yes. The 300 thread count sateen weave produces a smooth, low-friction surface, and GOTS certification ensures no harmful chemical residues from processing or dyeing. Serene Blue uses a relatively low dye concentration compared to deeper shades - but for people with documented sensitivities to textile dyes at any level, the undyed Natural Classic or White Classic sets are the more cautious option.
Serene Blue is the most versatile of the Classic blue colourways for interior styling precisely because of its softness. It reads as a neutral-adjacent colour in many schemes - it works alongside warm off-whites, natural linen, rattan, light wood, sage green, and blush tones without creating strong contrast. It is also well-suited to Scandinavian-influenced, coastal, or Japandi interiors where colour is subtle and texture does more of the work. For a tonal blue scheme, layer with White Classic Oxford Pillowcases or a Mid Blue Classic Fitted Sheet underneath.
